Camera gear is a mess right now. All of it is a mess. My 1D and 300L is muddy as hell since a friend borrowed it for some rallying. Need to clean that tomorrow.

They gave it back muddy??

I dunno but id have been a bit pissed that they didnt clean it if it isnt theirs

I told him not to bother cleaning it. I rather clean it myself rather than someone cleaning it with something which may strip the paint away. Plus it gives me an excuse to spend all day cleaning my camera gear in one go.

Very wise.

Give the lens a wipe with any dirty old bit of rag that comes to hand.

Could try to get rid of some of that encrusted mud with a brillo pad.

went to Richmond Park for a quick stroll with my parents who are visiting. Saw the Kingfisher but didn't chase it. Only thing I shot was this big sod

Anyone from Kent here know which of the 2 Jessops in Canterbury is the biggest? Going there this morning and wanted to have a look at bags (won't be buying from those idiotd - just want to look :-)). Othrwise, I need something as small as I have now (LowePro Micro Trekker 200) but with a laptop compartment. Any suggestions?

look at the Lowepro Vertex series, i have the 100AW and its about the smallest bag that does laptop and a decent sized camera compartment

depends on the screen size of your laptop also, the 100 (external link)is for 14" laptops, 200 (external link) for 15" and the huge 300 (external link) for 17" laptops

Lowepro Vertex 200 £99.90 at Moriss Photographic, £156.00 at Jessops (if you use a discount code). Don't these guys watch the news? Recession?

Sturry road one is the bigger of the two.

Agreed, it is bigger slightly. Don't forget to have a look in Canterbury Camera Centre - it's an independent camera shop which stocks quite a few bags. http://www.cant-cameras.demon.co.uk/ (external link)

OK, here's a few shots of the Burts watermain in Green Lane Morden.
They were digging up the road as part of a new 20MPH speed limit.
