Sorry, I kind of guessed at the url.

It's basically squad-based wargames. You're given rifles with laser. It's a pretty physical day, but a huge amount of fun.

I did wonder yesterday but didn't mention it in case I looked a bit thick :D

Warfighters... All tooled up

The headbands are the laser receptors. Hits against you are registered on a box mounted in one of the chest pocket. Three hits and you get a continual tone and you have to walk over to the dead-zone. The whole site covers a huge area so you don't get to play in the same area all of the time.

That looks way too much fun! :D Although I fear the bloke in the middle is about to get shot in the head.

He was the stag... Unfortunately, because the only thing the rifles shoot is light, we couldn't really stiff him like we would do with paintball.

The same company does a Rainbow Six event which is close-fighting paintballing in a converted barn. They get armour padding, but it doesn't cover everything. One guy we say had huge welts over the small of his back.

Do the guns at least make a satisfying crack and recoil?

no recoil. The squawk box makes a popping sound. The sound is enough for people around 50m away hearing it fine. Since the area is surrounded by an equestrian centre and farms, they want to keep any noise down.
