Oh my gosh, Someone just told me that there's no point in watermarking your work because watermarks can be cloned out. I didn't know this :|

Agreed. Bonus since I drive from North West to South London daily.

The wonders of Photoshop. Dont stop. Its a pain to do and I doubt someone is going to spend ages doing it.

Unless its flickr, I rarely upload files larger than 800x533px sized files so too tiny to do anything with. I know you are new but I do giggle when you go by peopels forums names.

Depends on how large and what form the watermarks take. Sometimes it can be difficult to remove them (more effort than it's worth). Somtimes if you use a watermark in a corner of the image it can simply be cropped out.

Watermarking is a compromise between obscusing/distracting elements detracting from your image and having a good image and making it easy for the watermark to be removed.

Right fellas I have been having a bit of a running argument with someone on an UE forum regarding the weather sealing on the 40D....

Is this guy correct with this comment.

Actually the newer model of the 40D shares much of the weatherproofing of the 1 series, and really was one of its strongest selling points. All the ports and flaps have neoprene seals, and the flash/USB ports have rugged rubber covers. Perhaps you should shuffle over to cameralabs.com and see their video review?

Cant believe its weather sealed like the 1 series..........or am i talking a load of rubbish

£35? What do you drive!?
I feel ripped off @ £110 a year!

At least they are not doing the revised rates by CO2 emissions they were going to do. Capping at £250 instead. Not sure when it kicks in though.

I think you meant about the cloning.

Best way is this.

Yeah its huge but solid colours over complex parts mean cloning and cropping is bleeding hard.

From dpreview (my first port of call)

Weatherproof compartment doors
We're looking for an exact clarification on this point, it appears that while Canon has now weatherproofed the battery and storage compartment doors (water and dust can't enter these compartments when the doors are closed) other areas such as buttons and dials aren't fully weatherproofed as they are on the EOS-1D series. Hence while the EOS 40D's weatherproofing is an improvement over the EOS 30D it doesn't appear to be up to EOS-1D standards.

The weatherproofing of the 1D goes much further in having seals behind all of the buttons/dials as well as just the battery port and CF door.
