Don't know a lot about Nikons but Warehouse Express has just plopped an e-mail into my Inbox with a new D5000. It's got one of those vari-angle screens, I hope Canon doesn't follow on that.

Sounds rubbish!

Without a doubt! I should have broken this post down into separate replies to knock a few more off!

Awww thanks for replying... teshi told me to speak to you about lighting...

Well, we haven't decided just as yet, she wants a bollywood theme and i'm not really sure how I can do that, I mean outdoors or indoors.

I think I will get the nifty fifty beforehand :) So a speedlight isn't that necessary?

Have you checked out google images and other websites for ideas for the shoot?

Especially if I've had a chicken tikka madras the night before. ;)
But don't worry, Mike. Unless you get a new job as a delivery driver with Parcel Force I'm sure its something you'll never have the misfortune of seeing.

Isn't it more dependent on the lens you use rather than the camera itself?

EDIT: Personally I don't think I've ever gone smaller than f/22

i thought there was a ceiling regardless of lens, dependent on the sensor size?
Meh, will research this a bit more.

I hope you told the landlord to stick that council tax letter up his arse. Sideways.

As far as I was aware Rob, regardless of sensor size, most lenses start to give ropey IQ past about f/22 anyway. I think. I may well be totally wrong, which wouldn't be unusual.:lol:

Its Lens dependant, Ie my 24-70 only goes up to f/22, where as my 70-200 has an f/32 setting

So, for this Sunday - if we dont have the numbers for tag team photography, is there anything in london that people are (or have been) interested in shooting? We have no set location yet so its open for discussion.

How about Marble Arch, Notting Hill Gate area? Never been there and its supposed to be nice.
Or we could see how quickly we get arrested by taking pictures of financial architecture in Canary Wharf?

not sure what impact image sensor has on this but yes some lenses go beyond f22, most of canons L primes go to f32, so f22 may not be too bad. Some of the non L lenses have figures in the 40's in the canon lens work book.
The lens work book is very technical but a lot of gen can be had, worth a look, ive seen links here to download a pdf doc............macca

As far as the aperture goes, i thought there was a point, regardless of lens, that caused image quality to degrade - because of light diffraction through such a small hole.

So it doesn't matter if a lens can go up to f/1000, if you go past the certain stop, pictures lose sharpness anyway?

I had it in my head that it was f/16 for APS-C and f/22 for Full Frame.

Grr, this is doing my head in now - im sure i read into this ages ago. I'm trying to find something out for a friend of mine and i was sure i knew the answer - now im confused!

I have something similar going on at the mo.. the tenants from 3 years ago have decided not to re register their car with the DVLA and i keep getting bailiffs around looking for them and banging on the door at silly o clock!!

I have to show them proof its not me and thenthey bugger off but they wont change the adress on thir system as the car owner has to do it with the DVLA and until they do that the tickets are still registered to this address!!

Started getting collectors round for unpaid argos cards for them too!!
