Okay - Maybe the title isn't quite right.
Have any of y'all sent your camera and lenses to Canon to have them adjusted to your camera? Or the camera adjusted to the lenses?
I am curious on a few points...
1 - Did it seem to help?
2 - How long was turnaround time?
3 - How much does it cost?

Depending on what I learn here, I may sink money into that process - or into a new camera instead.

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on these questions.

The question is; what kind of problem are you having? All your images out of focus?

Do you see a focus problem with both your camera bodies?
Does the problem exist with all your lenses - on one or both bodies?

Well, the 400 is spot on with the 30D, but not the 40D, and vice versa for my 70-200.
The 10-22 seems to front focus just a bit on both. The 85 is sharp on both though!
So, I am debating if a camera with microadjustment is worth it... and maybe trying to convince my wife depending on what I learn :)

Because the 40D has live view, you should be able to confirm or deny the problem without a doubt.

Wouldn't it be weird if one camera was off and so was the lens THE OTHER direction, making the combo seem OK, and in reality your 40 is OK?

You are telling my story. From day one I was very dissatisfied with my 40D. My XTi ran circles around it. When I ran focus tests none showed a significant front or back focus issue but the 40D just couldn't nail focus when shooting real subjects. I send several lenses into Canon for adjustment and Canon did a pretty decent job and most returned much better. But the 100-400 still was off. I sent the 100-400 and the 40D in a second time and when returned it was again closer but still not spot on. THe 40D made one last trip to Canon and they got it so it performed at least as good aas the XTi. So Canon did make adjustments and things did get better, Each trip takes about 2 weeks and I only had to pay shipping the first time.

However I was never happy with the results the 40D gave me. I was getting better results most times with the XTi especially with moving objects. I found a buyer for the 40D and picked up the 50D and have never been happier. The 50D solved all my problems. With micro-focus adjustment I have been able to adjust all lenses perfectly. I finally had that WOW moment with my 100-400 that I had read from so many posted but never had with my 40D.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

It happened to me too... I upgraded from 30D to 40D.... never really happy with the 40D... but was really happy with 30D... kind of regretted the move... I traded the 40D with 1Dmk2.... now I'm spoiled.... I want to buy 5D... but it doesn't have 1D AF.... I know 1Dsmk2 is a body for me... but can't afford it now...

I think microadjustment saves Canon a lot of money in the long haul. Fewer warranty camera adjustments and fewer warranty lens adjustments. As long as your backup cameras all have it I guess you are good to go.

Yep, if you buy lots of lenses or if you have a sizable collection... the micro-adjustment is a nice bonus in the 50D. They all can't be perfectly aligned, but if you can adjust for each you can have nearly flawless focus with each lens without having to go through the hassle of mailing things to Canon. Plus, you might think everything is pretty good, then do a focus test and tinker with the adjustments only to discover what you were previously missing.

The 50D rocks on the semi-pro side. Next stop, 5DMkII though... maybe next year.

Thanks for the responses everyone!
I am leaning towards selling my 30D and 40D and going to a 50D and 5D Mark II. A big investment, but I think it will be worth it in the long run.

And I think my wife will agree because she has taken to my cameras almost as much as I have - especially if I carry the backpack with all the extras :)
