5D2 question

OKay guys,

I've had the 5D2 for a while now..since early december...but i'm still trying to figure this out.

I want the AF ON button to do all the focusing. I don't want hte shutter to do any, only release the shutter.

I have CF III set to 1...thought that would do it but no. What is the right setting?

Probably 3 if it's like my 40D.

I don't have the 5D2, but on my 5D and on my 1D3, the correct C.Fn is 04 (IV). You choose how the shutter and AF-ON buttons act.

I just checked my 5D2 PDF and, yes, you choose the settings using C.Fn IV - 1. You can also use the next IV setting (2) to switch the AF-ON button with the * (AE lock) button if you with to move the focusing closer to your grip.

Page 173 of your manual has a list of custom functions with secion IV toward the bottom.

It's C.fn IV - 1

Set it to 2 or 3. Use 3 if you want AE lock on the shutter button.

I also have IV -2 set to switch the * and the AF On button, so it is just like the 5D. The AF On button doesn't work for very well for me, because of the hand grip that I use and I'm a left eye shooter.

edit: darn too late...I had it posted then deleted my post, because I had to go check my camera and make sure it was right!
