**Edit: Original added**

Here is a quick one I took of my wife. I have been experimenting in photoshop by just playing around. I used skin smoothing techniques I got from the July 07 Pbase magazine (everyone should add it to their bag of tricks). I also just messed around with different filters and several masks for the eyes.

Well please do critique ....good or bad.
Ohh and about her left eye (right as you see it) I did not mess up the pp her eye color is 2 different shades cut diagonally......A little strange but it gives her character :).

Your wife is absolutely gorgeous! And as for her eyes - I wouldn't have even noticed it if you didn't say anything!
Photo itself is also great - Is it cropped? Would love to see one that includes the top of her head.
Good job!

Yeah pretty girlie, you should be proud :). I'm liking the photo, very sharp eyes are nice to see. And a good friend of mine who was concidered one of the 'hottest' girls at my old school has one green eye and one eye which is 1/4 green and 3/4 brown with a really cool golden line going diagonally through the different shades. Fair groovy looking for a hippie chick haha.

As for the skin softening technique you talked about, mind sharing it here? But by the looks of it your wife has pretty flawless skin anyways...either that or you really have this process down!

its fine shot for one flash. or it was off camera wired one?
anyway, find white surface to bounce light of flash and use something white also like a3 paper to reflect flash light and fill shadows onto opposite side of her face. those eyes should have benefit from reflector

Take the 20-80 and set it to 80mm, figure out some way to bounce your flash off the ceiling or wall and use a reflector to fill in the shadows and take this shot again. The current image looks a little distorted to me; I am guessing it is because of the 50mm lens used at such a close distance. The direct flash makes the image seem flat, no depth. Your post processing looks good as her skin looks natural. This is just my two cents.

Thanks for all the input guys, I will try and post the original later today. I gotta get my butt to work. The flash was pointed at her at the lowest setting it was mounted on the camera, I am saving up for a 580 and a 100mm macro.....

And thanks for all the info on lighting, I will try and take this shot outside to add some lighting as I am limited. As far as the recomendation on the 28-80....well I stoppped using it all together as I beleive it is damaged, I have tried every which way and cannot get a sharp image to save my life....... Actually if I can I will post up the orig this morning.

Ok the original has been added, I guess it doesn't really showcase the skin smoothing too much as she didn't need it all that much. I would post a before and after of my mother-in-law if I wasn't afraid of her finding it and castrating me ;)

I will also try and make a new thread with the skin processing tonight
