I've been looking for a daily use backpack that could fit my SLR plus miscellaneous other stuff for a long time. Slinging a bag on one shoulder is out of the question. That ruled out a number of shoulder-type bags and sling bags. Other backpack type bags were just too large for day-to-day use (I don't need to carry a laptop plus 4 telephoto lenses and 3 flashes regularly).
Alas, the Lowepro Fastpack 100 to save my spine. I'm really enjoying this bag.
The bottom compartment fits my Canon XTi + 17-40 attached plus my EF-S 10-22 with relative ease. I have 430EX Speedlite here.
The top compartment fits my lunch and miscellaneous other things like pens, usb key, flashlight, Leatherman Wave, etc.
I think if I tried really hard, I could fit 2 of these 50-piece spindles but it'd be really tight. Ok, maybe a 50 pack and a 25 pack.
The left shoulder strap holds my knife.
Side pocket holds my water bottle.
Top outer pocket fits my MP3 player.
And the lower outer pocket holds some coins, tissues and chapstick.
