My wife was looking around on the web today for a Valentine's present for me and came across this website. She was looking at getting me this: http://www.cowboystudio.com/product/c04/p0402-02.php (external link), but wanted to run it by me first. I've never heard of this company before. Has anyone on here had any experience with them? If they're reputable would this kit: http://www.cowboystudio.com/product/c04/p0402-04.php (external link), be a better option? Thanks in advance.

Did you get these? If so, what is your impression.

Their store is not too far from my place of work, so I'll stop by, check them out and then report back.

i hear bad things about the lights. I have the stands not bad get impact lights if it has to be super cheap. Get alien bees for a good performance to price ratio.
I hear alot of the monolights create odd coloring but you can fix in PP

I've ordered stands and umbrella holders from these guys before. They ship fast. Product quality isn't the best in the world, but it is fine for casual use. They are also on ebay as cowboystudio and discountbulbs. You should check ebay before you order, sometimes the online store inventory doesn't match what they show on ebay.

Try them out. Just keep in mind that a 200 dollar kit is not going to be something you can throw around and beat up. If its just for studio use, and they dont need transporting, they may work great.

I bought Interfit strobes three years ago, everyone said they were poor quality but they suit me fine for occasional use.

Give the Cowboys ago and write a review, but remember you get what you pay for so do not compare against strobes at 4x the price.

I was looking at their stuff today...$55 on ebay for a 2 light umbrella set up. How could I go wrong using this for personal use in a small room of my house? For portraits and such...
