Spent last weekend, camping at a couple of fantastic beaches, firstly Taupo Bay. The following day, drove up to New Zealand's most Northern point by our roads - Cape Reigna, and on the way decided to drop by Matai Bay on the Karikari Peninsula to have a swim and some midday photos. I definitely wish to camp at Matai Bay in the future - it's the most amazing clear water I've seen (and I thought the Coromandel photos I posted few days ago was good water..basically fewer boats, fewer people = cleaner water)
Matai Bay is basically two smaller bays - Ohungahunga and Waikato Bays

And Karikari Beach (following pictures) is just across the isthmus of land
Matai Bay (Ohungahunga Bay)
Matai Bay (Waikato Bay)
Overview of Waikato Bay - can see the burnt out grass, for two months of 30*C temperatures
Karikari Beach, on the Northern end of Karikari Peninsula - again the water colour was just phenomenal. I haven't touched up these pics
Karikari Beach with couple grad ND filters over the sun, but clear on the water
Looking West along Karikari Beach
A dinghy I found couple hundred metres along the beach.
Wasn't exactly creative with tripod and long shutter speeds, as it was simply too hot and humid! The other 95% of the time, I was swimming around, and photography came a distant second. . Can you blame me? :+P

We've got rain, snow, fog and slushy roads here
