Does anyone know if canon will honor their warranty if purchased from a unauthorized dealer?

I found a nice deal on a 28mm 1.8 on newegg.com, but dont want to risk not being able to use the warranty if needed just because i tried to save a few bucks.

Thanks

as long as its still under warranty, and you have the blank warranty card/receipt they will honor it.

Sigma USA is doing the same, but it's an extra 3 years on EX series lenses purchased from an authorized seller. :)

Only thing is, it is not transferrable, so you better like it and hang on to it. Otherwise no used warranty.

Agreed. Good for the original purchaser only.

Sigma does not publish warranty informaton on thier website, I presume because they have so many versions for various global regions. However when you purchase a new EX series lens from an authorized US Sigma dealer or direct from Sigma USA you will find one of these in your box. If you dont find it in your box you either have been sold a grey market lens or non USA product, or from an unauthorized dealer. (per the warranty card) Warranty is only good for original purchaser and is not transferrable. Warranty is stated as One Year standard warranty plus a 3 year extended warranty.
