Not sure if I'm being picky here but the camera didn't come with the little tag attached to the camera, camera wasn't in it's little sleeve/pouch in the box and it was missing the piece of cardboard that seperates the camera/equipment from the manuals/cds. I put in a new memory card and took a couple photos and they were named IMG_001, 002, etc.. so I don't think it was used.. do you think someone just took it out and played with it? Could it be a returned item/used?

Not sure if this helps, but when I received my G10 from amazon, I don't recall any tag attached to it and there was no cardboard separator either, just the plastic mold tray thing that holds the camera, charger, etc. However, the camera was in it's sleeve.

That's exactly how mine came from Amazon as well. It was fine ;)

I flirted with the girl at Best Buy to give me a G10 a day before it released on the shelves...she opened up the cabinet and handed it over. I opened the box and everything was all there...Maybe amazon opens their boxes to make sure all the bits and pieces are in it?

Thank you for clarifying. If that's the case, no big deal then. Guess I'm just being picky.. I guess someone just looked at the camera or maybe that's how Amazon can sell it cheaper then others, by having less packaging parts.. lol

I just got my brand new Canon G10 today! Can't wait to use it! Now all I need is to find a new case. Any recommendations that's great bang for the buck?

You did the right thing buying from Amazon. I bought my G9 from them in December and when it developed a fault they replaced it, no questions asked for a brand new one in 2 days. They sorted out collection by courier and next day delivery at no cost to me. Fantastic company.

I had emailed Amazon Customer Support the same time I had posted this thread. What was their response??

They're shipping a new one to me free of charge with return label and asked me to return the other one once I received the new one and inspected it. Now that's customer service! Wow.

I have nothing but good things to say about Amazon!!

It is no wonder that they were one of the few retailers who had a large sales increase this holiday season.
