new 50d - lots of noise?

hi,

i have recently bought a 50d and all the pictures i take have a lot of noise...if there any way to reduce noise? also if i shrink the image...will it reduce the noise?

What ISO settings are you using?

Could you post an example or two, along with what settings the images were shot with at the time?

sure, I can post some when i get home. my so setting is on auto...would that be the problem?

What software are you using? Are you shooting RAW or JPG? Do you have high iso noise reduction on?

If shooting raw and using Lightroom, the noise is a lot worse than with DPP. If shooting jpg, try setting high iso noise reduction to standard and see how that looks.

No, auto mode limits the ISO to a very workable range..

I agree, we would need to see your shots to understand what the noise is that you see..

On my work comp, that doesnt look noisey at all!

It's a definite improvement, although if I were you I'd try taking the shot again when the light is different. You're fighting against a bright background which means the fruit doesn't stand out as much as it could.

There's only so far you can go in Photoshop.

Looks great on my computer too. I don't see any noise! Nice shot!
