I 'm sure this has been covered & obvious but I have pondered for a while what are the most appropriate lenses I will be using during my travels. In order to minimise lense changes, it just strikes me that I should be using (mostly?) the "Brick"/EF24-70mm f/2.8 during the day & change to the "nifty-fifty"/50mm f/1.8 during the evenings. I will be bringing the 100mm f/2.0 as well for the evening shoots where I need the extra reach.
What is your experience?

I change lenses depending on how and what I want my pictures to look like, it is not a "time of day" thing. My travel kit consists of a 24-70, 17-40, 50 f/1.2, 85 f/1.2 and occasionally 100-400. That way all the bases are covered and I feel like a pack horse.

And I travel a lot

Agree & that is what I did in my last trip ie: brought along the 100-400 plus others but I 'm trying to streamline things. Sounds crazy but I think I need to be more creative with the 3 lenses I will be bring along this time.
YMMV - The one thing I 'm discovering more is I prefer prime lenses vs zooms & even if I use the latter I tend to stay on a certain FL.

I agree with your Prime verses Zoom theory and where I have at least some control over things I will always try and use a prime, but where there are people running around all over the place or I have not a clue where the "subject" is going to go next I will use a zoom.

Last trip I used 24-105 for about 95% of the shots (of the 5% couple with 135L and rest 24L), so your 24-70 will probably be fine and most used one. 50 is small and light so thats an easy choice. 100, however, will probably never leave the bag.

Im going to take 24L, 50L and 70-200/4 IS to my next trip.

I would assume that the 17-55 f/2.8IS and 70-200 f/4IS would be the best combo for IQ, weight and versatility. Add in a 50 f/1.4 for low-light noflash shooting, and you should be good to go.

EDIT: Sorry, you've got the 5DmarkII. 24-70L + 70-200 variant of your choice. f/2.8 + ISO6400 is quite good.
