My kit lens departed from me today. It's amazing that you can buy a Canon lens and then sell it one year later at almost the same price you bought it. I enjoyed the 40D kit lens inmensely during this year. But recently I felt I grew over it and needed more. So I got a 24-105L and sold my EF-S 17-85 IS kit lens. It feels like maturing ... Sorry for the rambling, and thanks for listening.

LOL I sold my kit lens years ago for like $45. I suppose it was better than nothing!

Kit lens can mean so many different things. You were able to get the 5D with 24-105L, so some people relate it to that one.

To me, the kit lens will always be the 18-55.

I bought the twin lens kit for the 400D. I sold the 75-300mm a week or two ago (AU$175, not bad) but the 18-55mm won't be going anywhere. I'll probably keep the 400D unless I end up with two better bodies though, so the 18-55mm will just sit there as anyone who is stupid enough to buy it will probably hunt me down for their money back!

Alright, fair enough. Here it comes the last pic I took with the EF-S 17-85 through a window from my appartment in Stockholm (nice winter sunlight):

And here is on of the first ones I took with my new 24-105L at Singapore's zoological garden (impressive white tiger):

Yeah ... I used the new Landscape preset for Adobe CameraRaw. One has to be careful with it though. Sometimes the greens go a bit over the top and need to be adjusted. Overall, it has great contrast and color balance as long as one keeps an eye on those greens.
