Nice Shots! I love the dust cloud where the bat made contact. If you can get to the first base side towards the bag you'd get the batter running to first.
Thanks, i'll try that out next time.

C'mon, buddy. These are TOO good for your first go round! Kidding you. Even though, they are great shots. Loved the 'poof' of the ball leaving the bat. Great timing. Also liked the one that looked like a pickoff play at first where the upmpire probably didn't see anything. Love those situations.
Looked like kind of a gloomy day for baseball. Just wait 'til the sun shines. Keep 'em coming. I might try some baseball after baskeball season wraps up in a couple of weeks.
dave
Thanks dave, it was pretty gloomy for awhile, but it made for some interesting lighting!

quick feedback...8th needs to be cropped tighter but a great image. In each batter shot, you are on the wrong side of the field. You want to be opposite the hitter (ie for a righty, you are ideally shooting from the third base side). This lets you get the face on the swing and follow through and will add more impact (imo) than having the ball in the shot.
Thanks, i agree about the 8th shot needing to be tighter, i had a few from the "right side" but none turned out that great. But i will definetly try the other side more next time. I see what you mean and thanks for pointing that out!

Some very nice images there.
I like to see pitchers in portrait @ start of windup and landscape when shot @ release point when shooting from the sides. I really like the pitcher image looking from behind the plate, off to the side .
It helps to think ahead , example would be runner on first.....possible play @ second..........Prefocus on second basebag.....swith to manual......and wait for the play to develop and machine gun it with a burst at the bag.
Thanks for sharing

Appreciate it freebird, i see what you mean about thinking ahead. Towards the end i found myself "predicting" what would happen next. It helps that i played baseball too so i can anticipate different situations. Thanks alot!

Looks very nice. What equipment are you using?
Thanks, i was using a 40D and 70-200 f/2.8L. Hopefully i'll be getting a 1.4 extender for a little more reach!
I had a question about "action coming at you". I showed these to the photo editor at the Chico's Student newspaper which i work at, and they pretty much said the only one that works was the pitcher shot where he's throwing directly at me. He said this was because it was the only picture where the action was coming at the viewer. I found myself disagreeing, while i believe it adds impact i felt that this doesnt make the others not acceptable. Anyone else have something to say on this? It just kind of shook my beliefs and i was wondering what others thought.
