Hi everyone,

I've been having issues with my HP lp 2475... The first one i got had a warmer color cast on the right side of the screen. I returned that one and now have a second copy... and it's doing the same thing. I am starting to think that maybe this is some sort of user error or the problem lays somewhere other than the monitor.

I have the monitor hooked up to my Macbook pro via the supplied DVI cable. i have the resolution set to 1920x1200. I notice that the problem is more apparent after the screen warms up. I have opened up Photoshop and opened a white screen. The right side of that page is a warm tone, while the left is a cooler white. If i drag the page over to the right, the area that was a cool white tone turns to a warm tone. Bringing the photoshop page over to the Macbook monitor gives me an even white from right to left.

I'm not sure how to explain or show this to you guys as screen shots don't show it. Anyone have any ideas to try or suggestions? If i can't resolve this problem i think i am just gonna return the screen and get another 24" monitor other than the HP LP 2475w.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

-Mike

P.S. I forgot to add that the monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3 pro.

I have one of these monitors and like it. Have read other reports like this one. Not sure what to say except to try another one. Mine seems fine, but my eyes are old!

I just received this monitor earlier this week and am experiencing the same problem. It appears the right half of the screen has a red tint to it. It's most apparent on a white background.

I read somewhere this gets better after 400 hours or so. I'm wondering if I should send it back for another one, however, I've read several other people complain of the same thing so I'm guessing it's fairly prevelant problem.

Mine says manufactured November 2008 and assembled in China.

Ughh, frustrating. I'd hate to send it back and get another one with same problem. I wonder if HP would recognize this as a defect and sort me out.

Send it back for another replacement Mike. It's a good monitor and shouldn't have a noticeable colour cast. Mine seems fine, but I'd have no hesitation in sending it back however many times it takes.

Guess i'm sending it back. It was made in China in Nov. I bought it through Provantage.com, maybe i can request one that wasn't made in another month other than oct/nov.

Thanks for your responses guys, i love the screen but i just can't stand the color cast on the right side. I'm actually happy this isn't user error or worse something wrong with my computer output.

Hey Mike, that's funny, i bought mine from Provantage too. Let me know what they say as I'll probably be sending mine back as well...

I'm thinking it might be smarter to buy from another source as you're on your second copy with the same problem.

i don't, but i think i'll take my laptop over to a friends house and test the output on his monitor just to double check. I'm pretty sure that this is a monitor issue and not my computer since others have had the same problem.

I'm gonna call them tomorrow and see what they say. Hopefully they'll have something manufactured in other than oct/nov. I did notice that on the box of the monitor there is a sticker with a number of barcodes and under with the MFG # KD911A8#ABA and under description is says PROMO Hp LP 2475w. I wonder if it's the PROMO monitors that are having the color cast problems.

I would hate to buy this monitor from another vendor cause Provantage has the best price.. then again if they only have defective monitors it doesn't help me at all.

well i called them at work and they are issuing me an RMA number right now.. i told them that i have heard that the problems usually occur with models that are made in oct/nov in china. He really didn't say much but said that they will issue me my rma via email..... i think i'll call them again to stress getting a model made elsewhere and elsewhen lol.

Either way i'm gonna exchange for a 3rd model... and hope that 3rd time really is a charm.

Aren't all these monitors made in China?
