I want to buy a film camera that is same as or around my age(26)
I am thinking of a AE-1, and my budget is 100 including a lens(50mm maybe)
Since I know nothing about film slrs, do u guys have any recommandations?
I am not limited to Canon, but I want to have AV setting at least.

Why would you want a 23 year old one? The AE-1 Program is what you want. I used one for a long time. I wish I still had mine, but it was stolen. I have the EOS 3 now and that uses all the EF mount lenses, and is very similar to the 5D.

I would stick to an EOS body so you can use all of the lenses in your sig.

I have an Elan II that is a pretty good basic body.

I have a Canon EOS 1N with the Power Booster. It's a block of granite and rips through film in hurry. Probably more than you're looking to spend. But if you like the handling of a 1-series body, give these a look.

6 frames per second of FILM and no major corporation to finance it? That's an eviction notice waiting to happen! :D

I'm about to pick up an EOS 30V. I'm right in assuming I can use this with aperture ring free lenses, yeah? As in I can use it with my 17-40L and my 85 f/1.8. I'm 90% sure I can but don't really want to make an internet purchase (the only place that seems to sell them these days...) without that being confirmed since I don't feel like getting a whole pile of manual lenses.

I have an EOS 650. The same 650 I got in 1989, My first camera!
The very first in Canons EOS line, AF aperture priority and shutter priority.
I still shoot with this camera on occasion.
I know the Elan bodies are pretty good and I saw a eos 1N dell for $190 on Ebay the other day with the motor drive.

I have an Elan IIe. Got it for 50 bucks. Really, the film is more important than the camera :p.

really, in these days film cameras are usually not our priority cameras.
The points is, I want to find a camera that the same age as me, it has to be a SLR and the smaller the better. I don't want to get ta EOS because it looks too similar to the DSLRs. So for the compact size (I mean size like ae-1 and FM2) , any suggestions? Thanks ps. Can do AV on ae1 or fm2? manual focus? Thanks all

EOS3!

I agree with that (albeit the only film body I've ever handled). I got it for $165 a couple of weeks ago and it's really awesome. Granted, the film and lens is more important, but that 45 point AF is sweet!
