1.5 Months with camera

I've had my camera for about a month and a half now, and decided that it would be nice to receive some feedback. The following three photos are for your consideration:

#1.

In the first one:
I love the pose and the expression. Just a couple of thoughts:
The clutter in the background distracts from the subject. The bulletin board and the hand railing tend to draw the eye away from the main subject. Other than that I think I might have cropped it a bit tighter on the top. To me there's a bit too much headroom but if you were deliberately trying for that effect than please disgregard.

The last one:
I think I would like to see more of the subject's face in this one, to see the concentration in the eyes as she (he?) plays. Also, there's a distracting pink shoulder or arm in the right side of the frame that also covers up the bow hand.
I'll give you that you probably weren't able to get a better angle for this shot, but it might have been worth either trying to find a better vantage point or possibly pick out another orchestra member that you had a better angle of view for.

I wish I had been bringing results like this after a month and a half.!!!!

The first one is great!

Agree with Dennis re #1. Really caught the thoughtful, arty student look there. A touch too bright on the left hand too... don't want to steal attention.

#2: your camera is angled upwards creating the distortion. Maybe that's what you like about the image, but I'd prefer a more realistic capture. Sky is blown, which looks a bit harsh - particularly on a white web background .

#3: Again, agree with Dennis re importance of getting some resolution about the person playing... some face/eye contact would have been great. I don't see any benefit in shooting from so high... a lower angle would have helped with the above, but also avoided the headless red T-shift at the back - distracting also for boldness of colour. Not personally bothered by the softer pink at the side, which blends in better with the rest of the image.

I was trying not to disrupt the rehearsal in #3 -- that shot was taken from a hallway, through a door, into the rehearsal room. I would have preferred to see the face as well, though I think it would've distracted too many people.

I think that they are all well exposed and done well.

On the first one you should have moved to the left, and perhaps rotated the subject as well, to shoot more up the stairway and away from the yellow billboard. Light from the right is nicely done and compensated for.

I like the building...makes it look like the cold winter day it is, nicely done and well exposed for what it is.....but I have no other opinion as it's just a building

Nothing wrong with the violin player that a crop wouldn't fix...chair back in the foreground, pink arm to the right.. Perhaps a wider aperture to blur the background a bit more....

I think that HAIR in #3 could stand a good croppin' too!!! LOL!!!

I see your point with #1 -- thanks for the tip. I'll try and pay attention to these details when I shoot in the future.
