Not a fabulous shot, but the caption just came to me in a flash of inspiration...

Its the common goldeneye by the way.

White around the eye extends further up on a Barrow's. So i'm told. :)

Thanks Alex. This was an extremely tight crop from the original (probably approaching 100% crop at a long range), so it doesn't look great. I just liked the angle of the duck's eyes - there's something menacing about it... :D

Great shot. Who says animals don't have expressions? If he isn't mad at something, he ought to be. He looks like he's huffing and puffing, getting ready for a fight. ;)
