I purchased two Impact stands that have 1/4" male mounts. I also purchased two Norman R4108 stand adapters. They have a 3/4" opening for a stud but they came with a 3/8" adapter.

Can someone help me figure out where to find the correct adapter stud that I need to get them to mount together? I really wish I didn't make that midnight purchase before bed. It always results in incompatible parts.

Newer light stands are typically have 5/8 inch diameter ends. Older light stands often had 3/8 inch diameter ends.

I just looked at a link to he Norman R4108.

1) Remove any spigots from the bottom hole of the Norman adapter (those insets are called spigots).

2) Jam the hole in the Norman adapter directly onto the top of the light stand

3) Tighten the thumbscrew on the Norman adapter onto the light stand.

That is it, just like "Tinker Toys" but with thumbscrews.

Those "1/4" male mounts" you cite are red herrings, they have nothing to do with the assembly.

Enjoy! Lon

Thanks a lot. I seriously played with the pieces for an hour trying to figure it out. It works perfectly!
