Can use any of my very extensive system of OM lenses on my Canon with the adapter with chip. I use only very fast lenses, wide open or near wide open in low light situations, however, as the manual aperture is not conducive to use at small aperture settings. As a result of having some fast Canon zooms, the only OM lens I have a real reason to still use is the 135mm f/2.8 or the 24mm f/2. The 24mm PC lens does not have sufficient FOV on APS-C to warrant its use, which is the only real reason I have, even today, for wanting to get FF digital body.

If you ever get the itch to sell the 24PC, let me know...I'd be willing to give you a fair price for it (and hopefully, your definition of 'fair' and mine wouldn't be too far off :D ).

~Need A Lens Suggestion~

• Going to be shooting some Night Time Long Exposure Landscapes With Star Trails.
• My 80mm Equivalent Zeiss Pancolar is to narrow for my envisioned shots and locations.
• I can make anything from a 20 to 24 to 28 to 35 work for me.
• Prefer a M42 Mount but am open minded for the right high quality lens.
• Can't afford the Leica 35 R 2.8 unless I stumble across a bargain or an uber-user lens at a discount (which I would definitely be interested in!). Know one? Please PM ME!

Richard

I use a Leica 35/2.8 (2nd version) that I picked up on the second hand market. Its very sharp from corner to corner and edge to edge. Great color as well. You should be able to get one of these in the $225 to $250 range. Doesn't need any mount conversion or a "special" adapter either...straight Leica R/EOS and you're shooting.

I just received my Minolta MD to Eos non-AF adapter for my MD 50/1.7.
The funny thing is I have no idea how to use it,which setting P,TV ,Av or M on my also new, 2 week old 450D. I loved it 20 yrs ago on my X-700 in p mode.
All thoughts welcomed.

It only works for me in M mode but I think this is related to how I set the right exposure. I set the aperture on the lens, then use the EC button / wheel to get the little EC dot in the viewfinder in the right place (middle or slightly to the right). Even though the camera doesn't know what f value is set on the lens, it is still perfectly capable of metering the available light coming through.

My OM to EOS adaptor arrived the other day, will be interesting to use it - didn't get a AF confirm mount, just bought a 5 pound cheap one. the lens mounting is a lil loose to the adaptor, but the adaptor to the body is solid. Might invest in a better one later if I enjoy using it.

Just started going through this thread as I have a Zuiko MC Auto-S 50mm f1.8. If you have any update, I would be interested in the outcome.
At the moment I am between picking the straight manual version, or the AF-confirm.

To anyone using the non-EF lenses with the Canon dSLR, and using stopped down aperture priory and Av metering automation, you should do this test...

a. Set lens to wide open aperture, note displayed shutter speed
b. Stop down lens -2EV from wide open, note if the shutter speed lengthens by +2EV
c. Stop down lens -4EV from wide open, note if the shutter speed lengthens by +4EV
d. Stop down lens -6EV from wide open, note if the shutter speed lengthens by +6EV

If you do not get an absolutely linear relationship between stopped down f/stop change and shutter speed change, this is indicative of meter error which is very common!

The workaround is to note the wide open f/stop and shutter speed combo, set that in Manual, then stop down lens manually and adjust the shutter speed manually, the same number of EV in the opposite direction to compensate for the f/stop change.

Thank you for that. I have decided to try an AF-confirm adapter.

I'm reviving this thread as I see there's a few 'vintage MF lens requests' in it.

I've seen some fantastic shots around here and Flickr, and it seems to me that there are great options in vintage lenses for those looking for art/nature/landscape tools, where BIF and sports are not required.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a macro lens with a length between 100mm and 180mm, with great colour and contrast - I'd prefer to avoid a zoom and would like to get 1:1 magnification.

I've seen the Meyer Gorlitz Trioplan 100/2.8, the Tokina and Vivtar 90/2.5 and would to hear what the communities thoughts are.

Thanks.

I've got a Kiron/Lester A Dine 105/2.8 that seems to be up there with its peers. Clones were also produced by Vivitar at some stage.....well worth a look as they're not too expensive when compared to today's offerings.

I shot some C/Y lenses on my T1i a few years ago. The novelty of it wore off, quickly. I now shoot my C/Y stuff exclusively on my 2 C/Y mount all-manual film bodies; like they were meant to be used.
