Ha! That is neat. Seen thousands of these and haven't caught one doing that! Although I'm sure only for an instant - his head is upside down and the tail feathers are vertical. Wonder they can maintain flight control like that.

It was shaking like this for maybe a second. I guess it must have been a little waterlogged and was shaking off excess water. I've never seen any bird do this before....

I've seen Ospreys do that, but never caught a shot like that, great catch!

Hey Pete. In the fall, I lucked out and found a watering hole with a thousand gull but where only a handful could bathe at a time.

I sat there for an hour, patiently watching each one take a dip and then fly out and shake on the way. I captured about 200 shots of the activity. It's very interesting, and it's a great reminder that even birds that most people find boring or dull can teach us fascinating new things.
