It's amazing at what a difference 6 months can make. :) Both taken in Saint Louis canyon Starved Rock State Park.

Thanx for all the nice comments. It is a beautiful place no matter what time of year.

Starved Rock is just south of I80 at Rt. 178 (Utica exit) It's a small place but has some beautiful formations and several waterfalls. Usually the waterfalls are dry during the summer or reduced to a trickle but last year we had two hurricanes, Gustov and Ike blast right up the Mississippi valley. The hot pic was taken right after hurricane Gustav dumped 6 inches of rain on our heads though I heard that 2 weeks later when Ike dumped another 6 that the falls were quite large.

If you would like some decent waterfalls in the spring/summer just head down the road to Matthiessen Park a few miles away.

I grew up just a few miles from both....

Great shots as well.

I've been to Matthiessen but only to x-country ski. I didn't have my gear with me. It is a beautiful park as well and has some very nice trails. They have a ski rental place there as well so it's better to go mid week as the trails can get a bit crowded on a saturday afternoon.

I like these, well done John. Nice to see someone in the second shot, really gives it some scale.
