I need to get my 1D2 recognized by XP so that I can configure all of the personal settings that you ingeniously cannot configure within the camera.

I have the firewire cable plugged in with camera off. I run the WIA driver install. When it's done, it tells me to turn on the camera with the native cable (the firewire cable), and that the setup will finish. When I turn on the camera, nothing happens. Load up EOS Util, and it's not talking to the camera. I go in to Device Manager, and it shows the line of Canon 1D Mark II with the device having the yellow exclaimation point next to it. I click on the device's properties, and it says "The device cannot start. Code 10". I tried updating the driver, but XP tells me that there are no newer or better drivers than the ones that are in use.

Because it's seeing the camera, I know it's not a bad cable or firewire port in the camera because it goes away and comes back when I tirn the camera off and on.

I have un-installed the driver, rebooted who knows how many times, and am flat out of ideas. Can anyone help?

Your FW port works for other things? I never had luck with my FW800 port under XP even with the service packs.

edit: nevermind, noticed that the camera disappears from devicemon when you unplug it so it sounds like the port is recognized...... dunno
