So here is the beginning of the photo idea, I've been working on. I am going to have to composite other elements into the picture to get it to my finished piece, but I think it is pretty striking as is.

This is a really great looking shot, Jeff. The modeling with the shadows on the face really add a lot of dimension.

How were your lights set up if you don't mind?

Is this guy a boxer or bodybuilder??? Striking features.

Thanks...

Well I'm going to scratch the project. I can't get it to work as expected. My original idea was to use the knowledge gained in my black light experiments to create the gatorade effect of glowing sweat. I was going to do this portrait series of my friend doing active things like working out and running and then I was going to isolate the sweat drops from another picture of the highlighter water on my sister's bust she made in high school

and composite them on to the portrait pictures. So I'm essentially just turning them into a fitness series. :(

Thanks Jim. Here is a picture of a setup that is pretty close to what I used. I confiscated my basement's living space because I needed a lot of depth. His name is Sean Elliot and he is actually an actor, but he works out pretty rigorously every day.

And a view from the back room where my camera is hidden away to avoid light flare.

Here is the original test shot. As you can see, it changed a bit.

Thanks, Jeff, for all of the info. You do some amazing work considering your cramped quarters. My studio isn't much bigger, but my ceiling is open and painted black. Inside, it's about 12' x 18'. So, any more than 3-4 people and it starts getting close.

Too bad about canceling your project. It sounds like you had some good free-thinking going on.....:)

Nicely done lighting. Only goes to prove it is not the space, but how you use.
