....as a non delivery means it goes to my very good (smallish) village Post Office...

Really? Whenver I've had a delivery attempted (none photographic) and I've missed it, I've always had the dreaded "Please take this card to your main sorting office!"

Ah!, I think our village may be a little unusual then as the Post Office is a sub office with a sub sorting office at the back and to date all RMSD and such like packages have been taken to that office. It is small it is single manned with the sub Postmaster and his two dogs ;)

Edit:- yes I do get the card dropped in but it is the village office to which I have to go.

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

You can organise a redelivery to suit you online now. Takes a couple of minutes. I usually book for Saturday and my postie always arrives around 9.45 so I'm not stuck in all day. I like RMSD. I hate City-Link and such like ...

Bought a 70-200 lens from him on ebay on Friday, but am having trouble paying as the email address linked to the ebay "pay now" comes up as unregistered in Paypal and so the money remains unclaimed. Anyone else had this, and if so which email is the one for his working Paypal account?

Have asked Kerso, but had no response back yet, so guess he is still wading through the many emails he must get!

Would that be his msn one? I see that he prefers emails to that address, but am not sure if he has his Paypal account linked to that email.

All sorted now. Had a reply to my PM in the early hours, luckily I was still up (shoulda been in bed ages before as I had to be up at 7!). Yes it appears that the email address that is linked between the ebay account and the Paypal one is old and not used, so the msn is the one to use.
Payment now sorted and my lovely 70-200 L lens is on its way soon, so thanks to Ian for sorting that one out.:D

I have suggested that he updates his ebay account so that the correct Paypal account is linked to avoid further confusion.

In future I will probably go direct to him, but always like to be cautious when using someone for the first time.

I am glad everyone else is having a good buying experience because as a first time buyer from Ian I feel very nervous. I have been dealing directly with him via POTN PM's and I sent a cheque with a covering letter with my address details and the last I heard was "sending it Monday", well I get back this evening to find no lens and a PM asking for my address (again) ~ this leaves me feeling very uncomfortable about this purchase as the I need the lens urgently now and it looks like the earliest I will 'see' is at the end of the week the day before I need to use it!

Edit: was looking through my comms with him and a week ago I confirmed the address details ~ agh! sounds of hair pulling.

Sorry to vent a little but I do wish Ian's comms were better because that may have helped calm my mind and get a more ready answer as to why the delay is apparently due to lack of info that was there from the beginning with the payment. He is also sadly a little too brief is his PM replies ;)

Now where is that 'drumming fingers' smilie

Hi Ian

Thanks for the feedback and I now have a clearer appreciation of the way things 'work' & in respect of PM's and emails, yes we all think we are the only one needing answers and I for future reference now know ~ money by snail mail & address details by PM & heaven knows what electronic blackhole the first PM with the addy info fell into:confused:

All the best :D

drawers full of slightly mouldy Leica kit, a couple of newish Japanese bits, nearly every cheap Chinese flash modifying toy ever sold on ebay and sooooo many batteries the TSA have me on a no fly list ;)
