so i will be purchasing my first MF lens to adapt to my 7D. and had a few questions. i understand that for some cases with a FF camera that the mirror might hit the lens but that on my crop will i have that problem? or am i misunderstanding why that happens.

is there anything else i should know about adapting old MF lenses other than it might be addicting?

The mirror is an issue with FULL FRAME cameras, not crop cams...the mirror being so much larger....

Nikon focusing barrels (and all other rotating aspects of Nikkors) turn in the opposite direction of nearly all makes...not an issue for shooting static scenes but it could be when shooting fact action....having shot with Nikkors for YEEEEEARS, shooting action without thinking about focusing is a primary reason for sticking with Nikon lenses....

Look for thread on MF adapted lens discussion also here on PoTN...

I'd love to have a list of the best lenses i can grab and then i can go and search for something.
That 100 f/2.8 is amazing, damn.
I'd love to have a 50 f/1.4 but i guess they cost pretty much the same as a "modern" 50.

Just found a Revuenon 55 1.4 from Germany at 80 euros.
Is it worth it?

for the 50mm range, the pentax s-takumar 55/1.8 is a good one that is cheap. if you scroll back a few pages, there are some images with that lens by another member here. i got mines for about $40USD i think

Uhm, the fact is i'd love to have a bit more light since i am already at f/2.8 in every focal i have.
I'd like to have a crop of the Revuenon at 1.4.

I think it is overpriced. It is not a lens with a special good reputation.
Would not pay that 80 Euro for such a lens.

So, is there any 1.4 alternative to it?
What about a cheap macro?

...I don't know of any market that sells these kind of things.
...

Are there no flea markets around - in bigger cities?
I buy alot of my lenses at flea markets. There I get lenses at the best price (and sometimes the seller want prices I don´t like to pay).

Furthermore I use Ebay, but the prices there are sometimes high.
Classifieds are sometimes great, got some Zeiss gear cheap. But the risk is sometimes higher.

I got my Trioplan 100 for less than 20 Euro, and the Meyer Diaplan 100 (Trioplan copy) for less than 10 Euro. With the later I made this image - but that needs some simple DIY:

Whats about the Pentax 50/1.4 in M42 or K-mount?

Macro? Probably the Volna 9? Or some old manual Minolta or Canon macro with a lensless (!) macro adapter - no more infinity!

No markets here, we don't have that much stuff in Calabria.
50 1.4 from Pentax looks good, how is it?

You did well to find these so cheap. It´s hard to find a Meyer-Optik Trioplan under 100 euros these days. There are no flea-markets where I live either so everything must be from e-bay.
