Where i LOVED the 35, the 85 was more of a hit and miss for me. The focus ring has a very long throw and was very "tight" imo. Tbh, it sat mostly in my bag and was my most unused lens due to that. I also owned the old Contax Zeiss 50 1.4. I loved what i got out of that lens, but i wanted to see what i could get out of the new ZE version. as for the crap 50mm f1.8 i have, that's what i'm planning to replace them with. the zeiss 50 (don't want the sigma 50 again bc i just didn't like it, the canon 50 1.4 doesn't make me go WOW for it) and i'm planning to go with the canon 85 1.8 due to AF. I can MF completely fine it's just that easiness of having AF. Especially after having the new AF system on the 5D3 ![]() I think the setup I want for 35mm, 50mm and 85mm are respectively Samyang, Contax and Canon. I've heard about the 'hit or miss' with the Samyang and seeing how happy I am with the Canon I don't see too much incentive to swap it for the Sammy. //Tijmen

I really want to get a 5Dc to get a little wider than I do now. I'm also thinking about getting a 24mm, probably a Zuiko, but that would be for crop, because I don't find my 28mm Zuiko wide enough on my cropper. I really haven't ever shot FF (except for film, but then I only shot with 50mm's) so I find it very hard to tell how wide 35mm would be on FF and if it would be wide enough for landscapes. the 28 zuikos will be a tad bit wider than the 35mm. i had one before and it gives a nice wide view on FF. In fact when I still had my crop body, my 24mm Sigma almost never left the body. A good photographer can take extraordinary photos anywhere, with any camera and any lens while a mediocre one will take mediocre ones everywhere, with every camera and every lens.

It's a really nice prime set but after a year I am kinda yearning for a little bit wider and a little bit longer. I was thinking about picking up a 24mm Zubiko and a 180/200 or 300 lens once I get the funds but for most purposes I put my 50mm Ziess on my camera and call it a day because it is that great of a lens. I will probably mess around a bit more with focal lengths so I can tailor my kit to what I want to shoot but overall I am really happy with the set up I have. I think our shooting is pretty similar. I tend to slap on a lens and just wing it with that. //Tijmen

I shot a couple random things today with the Leica Summicron-R on my 5D. Very happy with the results so far.
