DAMN I BOUGHT IT OFF EBAY BEFORE I SAW YOUR POST. I asked some one who knew more about it than me and they said thens should be nice. They even compared it to Zuiko and Yashica. Smh damn!

Well, the lighting situation it had trouble with was bright sunlight conducive to flaring.

It came with a lens hood. Maybe that will help out a little with flaring. I got it for low light creative shots so I wasn't really looking for land scape type of shots.

I'm sure it's still a decent lens. I shot very briefly with my dad's Nikkor 24/2.8 and it looked pretty decent to me, more pleasing than my 24-105L at 24mm. I didn't shoot anything worth keeping, but from a technical standpoint it was pretty nice... unfortunately he wouldn't let me keep it

Wow better than the L? That's crazy. Are you sure your talking about the non AI version? I suppose you don't have a sample shot with it.

This V3 Vivitar Series 1 70-210/2.8-4 is blowing me away, such a useful lens!

A few shots from the Brandywine Zoo, I think all are wide open, I only stopped down once or twice and at the most it was to f/5.6

But I did win a Canon FD 50mm 1.4 before that! ;)

Yashica DX is much different from ML. The mount is the same, but the lens is single coated and I think has a different optical formula. That said, I'm thinking about picking up an ML 1.7 or ML f/2 to try out to see how it compares to my 1.4.

More from the V3 Vivitar Series 1 70-210

How can you tell between DX and ML?

My cousin has a 50mm 1.9 in M42 mount, I tested it a bit and it was decent!

If it's M42 mount, it's not ML. It says it on the front of the lens ;)

From what I gather, DX is the oldest SLR lenses they have, single coated but still decent glass. Then they came out with DS, which are slightly different, but if I remember correctly (or if my source was right) still single coated. Then they came out with DS-M (multicoated) in M42 mount, I have a 50mm 1.7 DS-M and it's a great lens, but mine is beat up and just generally doesn't work as well as my ML 1.4 so I don't use it much. When they went to the C/Y mount is when they changed their top of the line lenses to ML, the lower end stuff is marked YUS or DSB, both of the latter are single coated I think.

Basically, ML or DS-M glass is the ideal choice, but if you can get the other stuff for cheap it's still good glass ;)

Gotcha thanks!

here's a sample from it:

My 6x6 camera has a Yashikor 80mm 3.5 and I was surprised how sharp the lens is wide open, even in the 50's they were making good stuff!

^Yea, they definitely make good stuff :)

I want their 135mm ML, but I really don't need one right now, I'm just curious to see how it would fare against my Sears.
