^Oddly I've noticed that my Yashica 50/1.4 seems to have less contrast when paired with my M or my X-E1, yet on the 6D shots almost always look good SOOC... not sure why that is, every other lens I have seems to work the same regardless of body (FOV excluded obviously).

Just wondering if maybe the f/1.4 50mm's in general have this problem... idk, I only have the one. All I know is that there are a lot of FD 50/1.4 shots in this thread and they've always looked great to me... maybe you got a bad copy?

I ended up getting the lens for free so I can't complain.

I know fast lenses do have contrast issues but this one is really bad.

In areas where I want low contrast it actually does well . I'd rather remove contrast in post than have to add it though.

Well my adapter finally arrived-

and I am quite pleased.

May I present some shots from my Yashica 50mm 1.9-

Some slight editing in LR, mostly highlights/contrast/sharpness. This lens is amazing for $25.

Not sure what caused the ghosting/halo effect in front of his face

This one didn't have the same problem, but I missed focus a bit

Yashica 50mm ML 1.4 on a 6D. The first is with a close up/macro filter that I found (and now love).

Here's what I'm talking about, in shots like this where the sun was peaking in(and lowering the contrast) it does really well. It's a rather odd lens, Shot at 2.0-2.2

What kind of idiot only brings only a MF WA to the zoo? This kind of idiot, I guess. :) Felt like going very camera light, so I only brought the 5D and little OM 28/3.5 -

This guys fur is getting crushed by the jpg conversion or flickr or something, looks much mo better in LR -

IMAGE: https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7234/14023590064_411c193abb_b.jpg

I do like this little lens, but looking at some examples from the C/Y Zeiss 28/2.8, I think that I'll keep an eye open for a good deal on one to replace the OM.

You should look into the Yashica ML 28/28, it gives 95% of the Distagon performance for a third or less of the cost, here's a wide open shot from mine

Well, hell, if it's that affordable, I'll pick one up, too, if I come across it. Thanks!

....but I don't know if that'll keep me from wanting that last 5%. :p
