^That last one's an interesting shot, but I think your focus scale is off a bit

It is, it's frustrating. It's my only lens that can't do true infinity. That shot was literally while I was eating, just playing, and happened to grab that bolt while talking. I kick myself every time I see it and wish I had used a lens that was properly focused.

Fuel for the fire. Now I'll want to do more storm/lightning photography to try and get one worth a print.

Very best,

By that do you mean that it focuses beyond infinity, or that it can't get to infinity? I've never had an issue with the latter, but a few of my adapters do cause the former. It's still a cool shot though ;)

I'm hoping I get some storms again this year in South Carolina, the last time I was there I got a pretty awesome lightning shot when trying to shoot the sunrise.

Heya,

It doesn't quite make it to infinity, not sure if it's the lens or if it's the adapter. I don't think it's the adapter, as I have other lenses that do go to infinity on it. At first, I thought the adapter was acting like a small extension ring, but when it didn't do it on other lenses, I figured whatever. The lens is an old Helios 44-2. I don't use it at all for infinity work, I use it for close range stuff. It just happened to be on the camera at the time, so I used it not even considering since I didn't expect to capture anything in the storm anyways.

Florida has tons of lighting, but unfortunately most of it is south of me, as Tampa is the place to go for Lightning around here. Maybe one day I'll get down there some time.

Very best,

Nice pics and cute kids, but I'm thinking that the Sigma Art lenses don't qualify as manual focus adapted lenses.

Yeah, they're lovely shots, but the point of this thread is sort of to bring to light lenses people might not know about or realize the potential of. Most people realize how good the Sigma Art lenses are, plus they have their own sample threads ;)

My Contax 28 f/2.8 arrived early this evening. Itching to get outside with it - maybe I'll sneak out for some morning light tomorrow. Until then, it's no high art, but here's a test shot featuring the trike that my son got for his 3rd birthday, today.
