I am considering a new tripod - probably the Manfrotto 055xprob/488rc2 combination however I have a couple of questions.

1) I have a 400d+grip which I often use with my sigma 18-50 f2.8 and flash esp indoors. I am wondering if the head will take the weight without movement esp when I turn the camera into portrait orientation. The reason i ask is that there is a considerable weight off centre and i would like to be sure it would be stable and secure.

2) How heavy does the tripod feel for hiking/trekking? Im used to the Manfrotto Modo tripod which is fairly light (but not sturdy). Is it a tripod that you would want to walk all day with?

Thanks for the help

Don't know about the head (re: weight and stability - heads are often pretty heavy), but the reason I'm currenlty selling my 055PROB (older version) and 168 head (no clue re: weight on that one) is that it's too bulky (almost 3 feet long in its bag, folded) and heavy (about 7lbs) to take hiking. In short: it hardly ever gets used, even though I enjoy using it when I have it with me.
