I know they aren't eagles but today I have a ton of them in my back yard. I counted 18 at one point all on my feeders and around my deck and garden.

so here is another one.

still learning so I know the snow is washed out, so if anyone can help on that please. I can't seem to get it right with just about anything white.

It's a tought shot Scott, I can't help you, but someone here might be able to! Seems like the dark background and having no sun doesn't help at all. Try again on a sunny day, without the snow.

Thanks Steve, I am sure shooting through a double pain slider doesn't help either

Sweet little birds. You would never guess they were a form of sparrow. :)

Use Evaluative metering, Av Mode, and dial in some negative exposure compensation. That will darken the image by forcing the shutter to go faster for what the camera says is a good exposure. Your tricking it.

I've found that spot metering is too easy to mess up with. It's a small spot and it you get off the main subject, even a little bit, the metering will be way off. Not sure if that matters in Manual Mode, cause I just never use it to shoot birds. Too many things change to fast when shooting birds. Av does a great job in the 30D, adjusting the shutter speed way faster than I ever could in Manual Mode. :)

It's possible but they have more of a orange tint to them then the pink.
