Thanks Skip, I appreciate the answer. I need to find a different host then. Time to check what is out there.

I don't know what to say Nicky. Perhaps they are just slow to load. When I reload the page sometimes I just get the place holders then they reload when I "show picture". Weird.
Anyway I think the DO lense works very well and I love its' size. I'll just have to make do with my Tamron until I can afford something better.

I'm using Mozilla and I don't get the pictures either. I can copy the link and see them just fine at the Kodak site. No Xes, no placeholders, and refreshing doesn't make any difference.

*later* . . . and now they're showing up????

The reason that the images are not showing is that a web server has the ability to decide it will serve up images if they are embeded in someone's web page. Places do this because they do not want to become an image server for other people's content since bandwidth is consumed the most by graphics. The reason it shows after someone hits the images directly is the image is already in your local cache, so it does not bother trying to get it.

Thanks for the post on the DO. I am finally switching to digital and getting a 20D with 70-300mm DO. I decided this was the lense for me because I want good optics in a 300mm zoom but don't want to lug around a great white monster. Now the only thing left, if the kit lens is going to hold me over or if I should sell a kidney to get the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM (or find some happy middle ground that only takes half a kidney).

I love this lens. IMHO it's sharp, focus is excellent and it's black. I have posted some pics here:

DO = Diffractive Optics
L = Luxury, Canon's designation for professional quality lenses

I have the DO and LOVE IT. Great little zoomer! I find it extremely sharp with excellent contrast and saturation. PS love the file taken with this lens if there ever is any problems, but more often than not I am not making any adjustments to color, sat or sharpness.

I am invited to a sumo tournament next week and I will not miss the opportunity to get some nice shots. However it is always the question of need, greed and money.
I've heard that the light is rather poor (?) in those halls...

So my question is how to deal with it... will a 70-200 f/4 be to slow, and will a tripod make any good, as the wrestlers are moving around). Can I do the job with a 70-300 DO IS??? Or should I just buy the fat b... as this will probably be the only time I'll visit a sumo wrestling? So many says that the size and the weight justify the quality of the images.. well, I'm looking for you comments guys.

I have a 20D and a Tamron28-70 F/2.8 and only need a bigger zoom.
