I use PSE 6 on my MacBook for most of my editing. I'm looking at getting the Neat Image Plug-In for it but don't really know what real advantage there is between the Home and Pro version's offered. I understand that you can edit up to 16 bit images with the pro version and can see the advantages of that for some of the shooting I do but I don't really understand the Photoshop Actions and Smart Filter's option that the Pro offers. Can anyone give me a simple breakdown of what these two things are and what I would utilize them for. Thanks in advance.

You do want the Pro version: i) 16 bit editing is essential (as you already pointed out), ii) PS Actions are small automations within PS that you can set to improve your workflow, for example, set NeatImage to apply a certain noise reduction based on ISO number, you can do this by just pressing one key, you want this, iii) opening your raw images in PS as SmartObjects will allow you to apply NeatImage corrections as a SmartFilter, which is a kind of non-destructive way of editing imgaes in PS. After applying the filter, you can still go back to your picture and re-edit it in CameraRaw, for example. You will want this feature too. Finally iv) there is no price difference between the Pro and Home versions that is worth talking about.
