The purpose of this post was to alert buyers to check for compatibility before purchasing a card, cuz the retailers (Adorama in my case) and the manufacturer will take your $$$ without issue but will not allow you to return said item AFTER opening the package. Essentially leaving you with a card that doesnt work in your camera.

i don't agree.....this is not Adorama fault at all. they have every right to not accept the return of the card, expecially if it's open. They have no control over whether the item is compatible or not. That's just like someone buying Mac software for their PC, and then demand a refund when it's not compatible.

This is cleary Kingstons responsibilty, or the end-user responsibility.

Some folks are expecting Adorama to accept the return. But, if Adorama does that they won't be able to sell it as new so they loose money. Kingston should contact Adorama and promise to buy it back from them at his sale price.

So far Kingston's solution stinks. Suggesting that the OP return it to Kingston for an uneven trade value isn't right. Everyone knows MSRP is a lot higher than retail prices.

Can't you log onto the adorama site and look up the order history and reprint the receipt? Or reprint it from your email?

Yes, I can do that. However, concern #2 comes up even if I do that.

I bought this card for $39.99 from Adorama, Kingstons price is $93.....even if they give me the credit that I paid, they made it clear that I'd have to pay the difference. At $39.99, I couldnt even buy their 8GB card ($60) on their site. B&H has the 8GB for $20.

Yes, clearly it's my fault for not having a crystal ball in my possession and know that Kingston's CF card was not going to work in my camera.
A retailer should not have any responsibility in disclosing a potential compatibility problem with merchandise they sell to their consumers. "Ahhh let them figure it out."......cuz Im sure this is the first time this has ever happened.

Dan- I agree Kingstons position does stink, lesson learned. But ya know what? I'm not impressed with the way Adorama handled things either.

Gotcha. Now I see your problem. Best of luck. Keep at 'em at both ends.

I hear ya. It's always better when a retailer fights for you. They have different contacts that may be able to help. Did you contact the Adorama rep that's on here for help? It seems like she may be their best employee.

B&H doesn't seem to want to help me on the $300 Canon is trying to stiff me out of. They would only give me Canon's generic 800 number and had no other interest in my situation. I'm even less entused about Adorama.

I apologize that you seem to be getting the runaround; can you contact me directly, with your order number, and let me see what I can do to help?

Sincerely
