Dang! Hate it when that happens

Me too! I've done it several times, but I've never hit "save" before! Normally I catch myself.

Those silly buttons are so close to one another!

*having dessert from our favorite bakery*

The Kona/Basset encounter was so funny. Kona kept looking at the dog's legs. "Where'd they go? You really should go see if that's under warranty."

Oh, and there was this little terrier (Chris called them terrorists, cracked me up) that came over and was acting all tough.

There was, however, a time when Kona was going for the tossed ball. As he was making his final approach, a Mastiff, about the size of a mid-sized Hummer, .... "If Dogzilla wants the ball, Dogzilla gets the ball. It's not that important to me...."

OK, dessert gone. Time for beds.

Funny stuff, I could nearly picture it happening!

My Grandpa had to make the very hard decision to finally put my grandma in a home specifically for Alzheimer's patients. :( My grandma has gotten to the point where he can't take care of her any more.
It is really really hard on him. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that. Hugs.

You guys all sounds so comfy!

There was a hyena program on Animal Planet that I missed They really are cool critters, Lion King stereotyping aside
Like lions, they are a matriarchal social animal. They are also one of the only critters that have a 'day care' system of sorts. [/boring share of hyena trivia]

No kidding? I like the boring share of hyena trivia.

G'MAE all, hope by now the sun is out, and it warmed up in your necks of the woods...its cold and windy, but sunny here....and now you all sounded so warm and cozy that I think I might go find my pillow.

Just to say good day to you all.

Paula, sorry about your mom. :( That's got to be so difficult. Does she have Alzheimer's?

We're off to the unlake. See you later!

John, that's a pretty interesting idea, storing your gear in a cabinet. We've got bags like Neil...only they are the soft pelicans.

I've seen studios use tool boxes to store equipment. That's where I got the idea. I bought the box at COSTCO a number of years ago.

In my own experience, the brand name listed in ads for an external hard drive refers to the enclosure for it, not the hard drive itself. I have never heard of Acomdata, but I'd be willing to bet my 40D that they had nothing to do with making the hard drive that's inside their cheap, plastic case... It makes things a bit hard to tell if it's good or not without actually buying it and seeing for yourself.

I'm getting more inclined to shop at the exchange because there's no sales tax. With California in such a budget pinch, it's entirely possible the sales tax is going to go up, at least temporarily...

A split catchup today between early morning and early evening so I only have some of the quotes I wanted to make - sorry. I'm obviously not fully back into the swing of it yet...

Hanging in there. Trying to psyche myself up for tomorrow. We're going to go see our friend (the one that's been given less than a week or so to live)...those kind of visits are so hard, especially when you haven't seen them in a while...knowing what to say and not to say...it's just hard.

That's tough. You'll probably find that they will take charge of the conversation because they don't want you to feel awkward...

Good Morning Paula ( late afternoon in the UK :-) )

Well I have had a boring Sunday, it consisted of a Teresa instigated "Tidy up the Office"

...

Should have bought shares in Peli!

Looks nice and neat now, Neil. Nice stack of cases. And I can just imagine the (internal) sigh when the slides went... LOL

Never heard of ACOMDATA, I'd go for the Maxtor. I also get lots of stuff from www.tigerdirect.com (external link), they have great prices.

I've not heard of ACOMDATA either. The only drives I've ever had fail on me - both personally and at work - have been Maxtors. I don't trust them any more although they may have improved. The only drives I consider now are WD or Seagate.

A question for the hard drive experts... The Navy Exchange sent out a flyer that lists an ACOMDATA 1Tb external hard drive for $119.99. Is anyone familiar with this brand and is this a good price for it?

Office Depot is listing a Maxtor 1 Tb for $129.99 which I'm also looking at, except there I'd have to pay sales tax.

I would go with the ACOMDATA before I wasted a cent on Maxtor crap...they are probably the least reliable drives on the market. Way too many bad experiences with them.

I'm feeling better about the pics today, I was too tired yesterday and today I imported everything into LR and feel better. There are some that suffer from the high ISO, would have been good to have a shorter lens on the 5D methinks. So what would folks recommend, the brick? I fear I rely on the IS of my 17-55 a LOT.

You too huh? Maxtor used to be great then they changed something in the manufacture. After that I had two fail on me at home and three or four fail on me at work. That's just too much of a risk to take for me.
