You are lucky you are so close to the water, tat is what's saving you. Even tho we aren't that far we are at the top of a large hill/cliff which tends to make clouds dump all they've got on us before heading over the water.

FYI: Whatever you do, do NOT think it's a good idea to install a 6500K compact fluorescent bulb in your bathroom. For a while, our hall bathroom reminded me of a clinic. Not good. Too institutional.
