OK...I walked a total of 1.2 miles across campus to get these shots of some new art that was just hung in a new student building opening next week.

This beast weighs about 360 pounds, hangs in a 3 story atrium/entry/staircase, and is suspended between two air nozzle that make it turn slowly.

The view from eye level on the 3rd floor:

Do I get extra credit for going up 3 flights of stairs?

The view from below:

It's made out of hundreds of small bent strips of Teak wood. The artist took about 3 months to put it together.

OK, so I flew 10,000km or so to get this, but after that at my cousin's house in Ol' England we all went for walks over the Xmas period....so here's one from the village where he and his pregnant wife live!

England really is full of pretty places. Wish I'd noticed when I lived there :(

We actually had a load of snow here yesterday, but it's gone now.:(
First time I've seen it in the city!
I was working all day though, so didn't get a chance to go out!

Yeah...we had snow here in Kagoshima for the first time in 5 years, too!
It's all gone now, but it was so weird seeing it on the ground as opposed to on the tops of the local mountains.
BUT! I did manage to go for a wander, so I'll post a pic soon - "snow in the sub-tropics"....

Here we go, as promised.
Sunrise over a wedding "chapel" here, with snow on top of the palm trees!
First time in 6 years that snow has been seen this far south in Japan at sea-level!

Cheers all...

Amazing Simon.. One rarely associates palm trees with snow..

BTW,,we are having a bit of a cold snap here in Laos at the moment.. It got down to 9 degC Wednesday night..
