Amazing Simon.. One rarely associates palm trees with snow..

BTW,,we are having a bit of a cold snap here in Laos at the moment.. It got down to 9 degC Wednesday night..

Only 9-degrees?!!??! Does that mean you're pulling on yer long-johns? ;)

Tell me about it!
Though now, January weather seems to be going back to "normal" as I only had to wear a jumper over a T-shirt today, to go outside.
:D

Love the snow on the palm trees!
I threw a snowball at my neighbour and he looked at me with a puzzled expression on his face.
Obviously never seen a snowball before!

...and surprise, surprise, I actually managed to drag Missus Skygod and our little 'un out for a mile+ walk (or should that be "a 1.6km+" walk, as we're in Japan?)
Anyway, we went down to the sea and as the tide was out, quite a few of the ugly blobby-like creatures (pic#1) had been left high-and-dry.
So, our daughter tried to save as many as she could by tossing the poor unfortunate beasts back into the sea!
Then she found a VERY dead one and surprised us even more by "placing" it's body into the water and "praying" to the Shinto-water-god (pic#2) - that's not staged, and I was just pleased to capture her before she noticed I was about to take a shot.
I tell ya....these Japanese still surprise me after almost 6 years here!

Great, isn't it. I love this about Japan.
But, what on earth is the blobby thing?

Wish I knew...but there were a ton of them washed up and they were VERY sticky, but (mostly) very alive, albeit slow to move. Kind of like a slug, but the size of a tortoise!

Yuck!
And despite the laughing smilie, this is Japan....so you may well have seen it in a Sushi restaurant!!!!

Anyway, I'm off out with a matey either tomorrow or Friday (depending on the weather here) for another "wandering shoot" around the city, so hope to add some more pics by Saturday!

TTFN!

Why is it that women always steal duvets? I mean, why can't they regulate their body temperature like us?!?!?
;)
Anyway....off for a "walk" now with a Japanese matey, even though the weather is pants, so might have something to add soon.

As promised here's a couple from today!
I cycled into the city to meet a friend for lunch - about 3km from my home - and then we walked about 1.5km around the city-centre enjoying the air...and of course, I was enjoying snapping away. Actually, I even dropped into a camera shop and did some bargaining for a new 7D and 200Lf2.8....got him down to ¥210,000 for both! Not quite enough discount, but almost!!! Those WILL be mine!!!!!!!!

Anyway, back to the pics, and the first one is pretty typical of most Japanese cities. Too many ugly "block-shaped" apartment buildings, lots of cables, and not enough light getting down to the streets. Sad...so sad.

The second shot was on a bridge. I used my 100mm macro lens from way across the other side - across 2 lanes of roadway in both directions, and 2 side-by-side tram tracks. Gotta love that lens!
