Strangely enough, I recently decided to go for 1-2 mile walks a few times a week and have been bringing my camera gear with me. Here's one from last night (12 7-shot HDR images stitched together)

.... Actually, I even dropped into a camera shop and did some bargaining for a new 7D and 200Lf2.8....got him down to ¥210,000 for both! Not quite enough discount, but almost!!! Those WILL be mine!!!!!!!!!

Cor! great price! Was it a local shop or a chain?

This is great! I wish I had the chance to get out more at night!

@Chris - thanks for the compliment....I'm popping out again today with the 100-400L, so maybe I'll get something new to add...

キタムラカメラ!
But it took "mentioning" ビクカエラ which opens in a month here, and "the internet" to a Japanese matey of mine I was with to encourage the dude behind the counter to discount!
:D

キタムラ is pretty good, and less expensive than Yamada Denki.
We don't have a ビク here, but I've been to one plenty of times in
Tokyo. Opening in a month, you say? I might have to take a trip down your neck of the woods soon. What is it, about 2 and a half hours by car?

I think there's a big Yodabashi Camera in Fukuoka, too, which is probably worth a visit one day in the near future. Driving around Fukuoka is a nightmare though!

Well, that quote was in the city, but my "ol' matey" back where I used to live always gave me amazing discounts...so I'm 99.9% sure that if I took the quote I've got in my sweaty little hands to him, he's knock another ¥10,000~20,000 off!!!
Which means, as soon as the yen come in (soon, my friend....soon!!!!), I'll get myself the 7D and 200L!

Yeah...I went to the one in Hiroshima and got a "ビクカメラ" points card, and as I have to wait a little while anyway, I might as well play all the retailers off against each other! Oh how fun it is to be a foreigner here and to 100% IGNORE the rules about not asking for money off! Ha, ha, haaaargh!!!
Oh and yeah....I guess we're about 2½ hours from you....just let me know if/when you're coming down! :D

Yodabashi huh? Not been there, but that really is a long way for me to go for a camera!!! And as to driving around Fukuoka - no thanks! Done it enough times not to want to do it unless I have to!

Right....there's some red wine needs drinking, and a Missus Skygod in need of some lovin', so better go!

Later matey...
Oh and there will be more in here from me soon as I can download off my camera.
:D

And another one from me - at Miyajima this time, near Hiroshima. Spotted this unusual view of the famous "torii" there over the rooftops of the old part of the island.

The thingy in the tree is a classic! Wonder what it's doing there?

Great shot of Miyajima. Most photos of the torii I've seen were taken from lakeside, so it's nice to see something different.
I was going to get out for a walk today, but have a dodgy stomach bug, so didn't go. I then decided to go out with the car instead and find some new places, but, apparently I've been using the car too much for my own devices and desires recently, so my wife went shopping with her mum instead.
I haven't even been inside the car for 3 weeks -but I use it too often. Ummm.....

Hey B, I was about to answer your email when I spotted the POTN post......so expect another message soon!
As to the Moomin, we had a big arty show here all about the author and the Moomins themselves which was really fun, but I wasn't allowed to shoot inside the galleries. But this chap (and many others) were outside in the gardens!
And the Miyajima shot is from August, but I was cleaning out my hard-disk and re-discovered some images I'd forgotten I had.....glad you like it.
:D
And about the car.....hmmmm....know what you mean....someone near me right now says that about my computer use too!!!!
(She, over my left shoulder, just said "ひどいー!!!!") ;-)a

I'm lucky there because the wife spends ages most evenings putting the pics I take of Hana on her blog, so she can't complain!!

...and surprise, surprise, I actually managed to drag Missus Skygod and our little 'un out for a mile+ walk (or should that be "a 1.6km+" walk, as we're in Japan?)
Anyway, we went down to the sea and as the tide was out, quite a few of the ugly blobby-like creatures (pic#1) had been left high-and-dry.
So, our daughter tried to save as many as she could by tossing the poor unfortunate beasts back into the sea!
Then she found a VERY dead one and surprised us even more by "placing" it's body into the water and "praying" to the Shinto-water-god (pic#2) - that's not staged, and I was just pleased to capture her before she noticed I was about to take a shot.
I tell ya....these Japanese still surprise me after almost 6 years here!

Its been a while since I looked at this thread. :D I thought I might just answer what was in these pictures since nobody else ID it. Its most likely a nudibranch, in fact they're commonly called "sea slugs." Pretty much predatory marine slugs, many are extremely beautiful. Many of them are specialists that only prey on certain species of coral or other marine life.

:D There is your daily factoid - some exceptionally beautiful pictures from where you all live!

Hey! Thanks for the info'. I guessed they were a sea-slug of some variety, but not being "into" blobs of snot, wasn't too bothered about investigating any further!
And I didn't realise they were predatory.
Ya live 'n' learn!!!!

A couple from my wanderings last week.
One is a shot of a temple from the end of an alleyway,
and the other is a highly exciting tram.
I tried to make it a little more interesting during PP, but I'm not too sure if it worked.

How do I get a space between the pictures??
