That makes a huge difference with the amount of ram you can use, and subsequently how quickly you can do major operations. 1Ds MkIII, 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, 16-35 f/2.8L II, EF 100mm F/2.8, EF 35 f/1.4L, EF 50 f/1.2L, EF 85 f/1.2L II)

Rene asked a key question that only you can answer, but you can't answer it if you don't know what it can do. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.

If you are going to be doing alot of detail work - like restoring old photos and stuff like that - you need CS4. If you are not going to be doing alot of detail fixes to photos and really need or want a data manager - lightroom is good for that. However, CS4's content aware scaling is such a powerful thing (and I am not sure whether or not lightroom has that), you still may want to consider CS4. I myself was in the pickle, whether to add lightroom on when I could get some money off it with the CS4 upgrade. Ultimately, I decided against it, since Bridge CS4 got some of lightroom's features, and I really needed CS4 for editing older photos. 1D-IIN, 30D, sigma 120-300, 24-105 IS f4 L, 70-200 IS f2.8 L, 50 1.4, 580 EX, Bogen 680B/3229

Kinda boils down to the question "are you a photographer that aspires to be an artist" or a photographer that wants to improve his photographs. The things you do for yourself die with you, the things you do for others live forever.
