Wow! I am in love. I just wish I hadn't had to wait so long for this lens. This 500mm f4 is absolutely amazing. I have never enjoyed shooting so much. Oh and the Wimberly head is the icing on the cake. What a combo.:D

at this time I am keeping my 400. I will sell my 400 when I am ready to get the 300 2.8 IS.
I went for the 500mm because the weight on the 600 is double the 500 and I was not in the market for a $700 tripod.

Congrats on the lens :)
the 600 is about 3 lbs more than the 500 though.

Congrats on the new lens Brittany.

Looks like we are using the same combo ... 1D MarkIII and the 500mm f4L IS, with the Wimberley gimbal. I even have the same blind!

Now you need to get the Lens Coat camo cover for that white lens! I also use a wide net type piece of camo over the open "shooting area." Picked it up at Walmart and it works well.

Yes it is. If I could use it for landscape and portrait, I would. :)

That lens you bought from Dan has some history behind it. It used to belong to pro surf photographer Chris Straley and has been all over the world. Glad to see it went to a good home!
