I wonder if Canon will warm over the current 600L some time soon? Even the 800L is lighter and as you said, the newer 500L is half the weight.
I see that you are using yours with a 1.4x TC, how do you find that combo on your 1DIII?

Britt, CONGRATULATIONS! I just picked up mine in early January and you are right! It is a fabulous lens! I am sure you're gonna be thrilled with the great pictures you'll be taking. In fact, I'm so happy for you, I'm not even gonna comment on your Dallas Cowboys shirt - but I definitely think you guys should keep TO. It will be the best think to happen to the Eagles during the next season!):D:D

I got my Wimberley Head from B&H.

I love my Cowboys...lol. What would be great is getting to take pictures during there training camp.

I am in the process of ordering the wimberley flash bracket and then I should be set.

I went up to Eagles training camp before the season TO exploded - (imploded??) with a 300. I got some great shots of him catching passes alone on a field. I really wish I had the 500 that day.

Congratulations! What an awesome lens to add to the line up!!!

I have a buddy that is agonizing over this decision right now. He could probably sell a few of his other unused 'toys' and be able to afford it. He is literally pulling it up on Amazon, adding it to his cart, then backing out. My opinion? He might as well just buy it. He knows he will own it eventually, so why not enjoy it now and save the stress of trying to decide?
