In terms of fun factor, it's pretty difficult to beat the combination of Valentine's Day, Von Iva and a packed Brass Rail. The place was crazy...there were two videographers and a 30D user (they were together I believe), and just about every male and lesbian in the crowd pulled out their cell phone or p&s for a bit...the effect was something like a constant stobe light. Well, it didn't help that the girl with the 30D was using a 580exII for focus assist (the main flash, not the little red beams). The best part was I managed to drink two Newcastles while shooting and didn't spill a drop.

I really could have used a 16-35 or even a fisheye here as I spent a lot of the evening at 24mm or close to it. I used a 580ex on camera w/ CTO gel and bounced off the ceiling...shot at f/5.6 much of this set to ease the burden on the AF.

Awesome stuff, Drew. #1 is fantastic, but you already knew that.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't show up afterall -- that would have been too hectic!

Yes, I am quite fond of #1...I think it will end up as a print at some point.

I figured you'd be there, so I wasn't actually planning to shoot. Well, I was just going to shoot random shots of the wife + friends and what not. Turns out the place was way too crowded to just chill or whatever, and well...it's pretty damn hard to resist shooting some Iva when the opportunity presents itself. ;)

Crap! Why didn't someone PM that this thread was here! Wait ... I gotta' restart my pacemaker ... God, it's like being over the G&N section ... there we go ... reboot complete! Very nice set, Drew. So, is Von Iva a band or just one of these ladies?

Sorry, I'll try remember to PM you any time I post potential G&N contenders (which isn't often). As for the Von Iva, the lead singer's last name is Iva, and the Von comes from a grandparent I believe.
