Cloudscape - Contrails

Feb. 15, 2009, mid-morning. Nothing but contrails in this sky, from new ones to highly evolved ones. It amazes me to watch the contrails grow into diffuse clouds with so much wave structure. And to think that the jet planes are responsible for all of this.

Yep. There is some research that shows this a big part of Global Dimming that is the opposite of the Greenhouse effect. There were measurements made in the days following 9/11 that verified how much airplanes are contributing to the effect.

Thanks, Kenny, for the references to dimming by clouds - I will study these more carefully tomorrow. From a photographer's point of view, I am taking most of my cloud images these days using Photomatix in the HDR mode - I am happy with the results.
