These are amazing. I had never heard of this place. The "pass" looks like one of our slot canyons.

You may remember this from an Indiana Jones movie. I forget which one though...

Lovely. I long to go back to Jordan. I spent three days in Petra and it wasn't nearly enough. Did you make it to the Treasury at night?

Unfortunately, no. The security situation for Israelis in Muslim countries is a bit shakey at present, but we had guests from the U.S (my sister and her husband), who wanted to see Petra, as did I also, so we compromised on a one day tour from Eilat. Also, my brother-in-law wanted to take in Wadi Rum on the way back and that left us only a few hours at Petra. Although I originally thought we should have stayed longer in Petra, I was enchanted by evening in Wadi Rum. The diffused red light of the setting sun turns the shadows purple but because of the dryness of the air it is amazingly clear. I've tried to express something of that magic, so different from the high humidity of the Mediterranean coast where I live.

Only been there twice and the last time was 10 years ago. Jordan is a beautiful place - the garden of the Middle East.

The Beqaa valley in Lebanon is truely a breath taking place. Lovely wine from there as well.

Oman is superb as well as long as you get away from Muscat.

I really must get to scanning in those old photos !!
