I am not sure but it feels like it's an offer you can't refuse. A friend of mine asked me if I would like to buy his used Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L for $460.

I need something longer for portraits and outdoor concerts later in the spring/summer.

It has a lot of scratches and wear as you can see on the pictures below, but the glass is in perfect condition.

The retail price in Sweden is $1470.

The other question is, are you able to hand held the 70-200 2.8 mounted on a Canon 5D (with grip)? I'm not strong (but I'm working on it). I had a 70-200 f/4L before together with Canon 350D and there was no problem but the 70-200 2.8 and 5D is more the twice as heavy.

CONGRATS on the fantastic buy! I am searching for a backup 70-200 and seems like you found an excellent deal.
I have the f/4 and 2.8IS --- I had a backup 2.8 IS but sold it------ now I realize I need a backup-- I have tried non-IS and have no problems hand holding it. You will get more keepers with the IS but overall you should not have a problem.
congrats!

Yep - go for it. As long as the glass is fine, the shape of the body is secondary. Its a great lens and that is a great price.

Last month I bought a brand new Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 for same price as this used 70-200 2.8, I'm glad my girlfriend share the passion of photography.

I will buy the lens tomorrow. POTN is not good for your economy :(

Hey everyone. I was looking around for a lens for my Canon Rebel XTi. The Canon 70-200MM is what I really want to get. Now that my Taxes are now done. I can't wait to get this Canon 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens. BTW. Can some one post some photos that where taken with this lens? Thanks.

At the top of this forum there is a link to the lens archives. Every lens sample you could dream of and then some.

Lens looks great, I wouldn't worry about a thing. Fantastic deal too.

Personally, I'd rather buy a well used lens than one that sat in a closet for 10 years.

If you must know...
