According to Rob Galbraith's write-up of the new firmware:

When the new PocketWizards were used on top of an EOS-1Ds Mark III, remote flashes would occasionally not fire, or misexpose the frame. Plus, if the camera was set to a high shutter speed, it would sometimes drop to its X-sync speed unexpectedly. This has been fixed. (A similar shutter speed shift could also occur with the EOS-1D Mark III, 5D Mark II and possibly other models, and the shift should now no longer occur with these models also).

I am still getting the shutter speed shift with my 5D Mark II. Anyone else seeing this?

I just updated my the firmware to 1.18 with great results. They are starting to shape into the product originally advertised and I can say at this point that I am pleased and will confidently use them on shoots.

I also ordered from Amazon and got just the Flex. Can't do anything with it without the miniTT. It's like opening a new gift on Christmas day and not have any batteries.

I wish I could test that for you, but don't have that body. I did a quick test this morning using my 1D II, 550EX and two Flex's. I was firing at 500 feet through the woods and over a river (literally) with perfect ettl - high speed and all. I could have increased the distance and still made it work, but that's already beyond the limit of my working needs.

None of the other shutter speed problems were present and I understand with I can even shoot with my AB's in high speed now (similar to the Radio Popper Jr's).

My 5D II keeps bouncing back to the x-sync speed with the Mini on it. The release notes say this bug was supposed to be fixed. I called Pocket Wizard, and I am waiting for the tech to get back to me after talking to an engineer at LPA.

Updated the utility and flashed the new firmware onto both FlexTT5's. First thing I tried was to put a 550ex on the "slave" FlexTT5. It works, but not the same at putting a 580exII on the slave. With 580exII mounted as a slave, the 580exII fires a E-ttl metering pre-flash when I press fel on the mkIII. The 550ex does not. In fact, so far the 550ex keeps shifting into TTL and prevents me from putting it in High speed sync so it won't fire shooting faster that 1/500sec. I initially had a similar issue using a 580exII with the flexTT5 in that once it was turned on it was forced into TTL mode and wouldn't fire as a slave. At least the 550ex will fire as a slave, just no E-TTL mode. I have two other 550ex's so I'm going to test them out in a few minutes. I was looking forward to getting rid of the RF interference with the 550ex's, but right now I'm not sure they will perform as intended.

Anyone been able to keep a 550ex in HS sync on the FlexTT5? Shoot above 1/500"? Had their 550ex stay in ETTL like it should?

The other two 550ex stay in ETTL and HS sync, but do not fire above 1/500 sec. While this doesn't take the 550's out of my kit, it does keep me from using them outdoors in daylight for fill(with pw flextt5's). Hopefully they will "fix" the 550ex HS sync with the next firmware update.

Anyone have issues with the new Utility of all the tabs being grayed out? How do you tell when its updated to the newest firmware?

You can flash the firmware with the old version utility, but you need to download and install utility 1.18 in order to do anything with the pw's after you flash the new firmware.
